La morphotonologie du na de Yongning : travaux réalisés depuis 2006 et nouvelles perspectives

Le na de Yongning est une langue sino-tibétaine en voie de disparition, parlée dans le sud-ouest de la Chine, qui présente de nombreuses alternances tonales. L’exposé, qui ne présuppose pas de connaissances préalables au sujet des langues d’Asie orientale ni de la typologie tonale, présentera une analyse de ces alternances tonales, qui ne découlent pas de règles phonologiques générales, mais reflètent une multitude de règles spécifiques à un contexte morphosyntaxique précis.

Une présentation des travaux réalisés depuis le début de l’enquête de terrain en 2006 (corpus, dictionnaire, et monographie au sujet du système morphotonologique, disponibles en libre accès « diamant ») sera suivie de réflexions au sujet de nouvelles perspectives pour la suite du travail, en particulier la modélisation de la morphotonologie au moyen de transducteurs à états finis.

Yongning Na morphotonology: work carried out since 2006 and new perspectives

The presentation will be given in French.

Yongning Na is an endangered Sino-Tibetan language spoken in southwestern China, which has numerous tonal alternations. The presentation, which does not require any prior knowledge of East Asian linguistics or tonal typology, will show that these tonal alternations do not follow general phonological rules, instead reflecting a multitude of rules specific to a particular morphosyntactic context. A presentation of the work carried out since the start of fieldwork in 2006 (a corpus, a dictionary, and an analysis of the morphotonological system, all available in “Diamond” open access) will be followed by reflections on new perspectives for further work, in particular the modelling of morphotonology using finite state transducers.
