Contrasts between the TAM markers FIN, SOT & FEK in Haitian

Haitian has three auxiliaries fin, sòt and fèk that have been analysed as auxiliaries that express a combination of recent past and completive aspect (Valdman 2015:230)
1.     fin ‘finish’
    Li fin kuit diri a.
    3SG FINISH cook rice DET
‘He just cooked the rice.’ (Valdman, 2015, 228, ex 44c)
2.     sòt ‘go out, exit’
Nou sòt manje. (recent past) 1PL EXIT eat
    ‘We’ve just eaten.’ (Valdman, 2015, 84)
3.    fèk
    Msye a fèk soti.
man det fek go.out     (Valdman 2015:230)
     ‘He has just gone out.’

In this presentation we examine the three auxiliaries with respect to their readings, the predicates they combine with and the semantic contrasts between them.
